On a day-to-day basis I complete various civil engineering tasks. These are often on multiple projects and encompass the three waters, infrastructure and land development.

Designing large commercial projects, talking to clients and other consultants

Design stormwater solutions as well as assess flood and stormwater impacts

Good mix of challenging opportunities and support from seniors when needed

My role differs depending on the jobs available. I can be doing traffic analysis, transport planning, active transport planning, traffic modeling, safety assessments, working on masterplans, assessing carparking arrangements. Day-to-day can include analysing driving habits of people in a neighbourhood, trying to figure out which direct people, what intersections they take and what routes they go. Or planning walkways and cycleways and figuring out which design treatments should be used during each section of a route.

I work as scope fulfillment for a wide range of projects. In under a year I have worked on or produced a fee proposal for 65 individual projects. The breadth of work and solutions that are required range drastically from job to job, which keeps me on my toes and means I'm constantly learning. My usual day will consist of review and creating traffic advice for clients regarding residential/commercial developments or master planning for larger scale developments.

It is a struggle to gain experience as it is not a fast paced environment which does not assist in progress and development. The role is pretty much to obtain tasks from senior engineers and fulfill them. The responsibilities and duties placed on a graduate are excellent however looking for those tasks can be difficult.

My role includes helping senior engineers with different projects and tasks. Can sometimes be short of work which can be quite frustrating.

Wide range of projects to be involved in. I have already developed countless invaluable skills in the short time I've been here.

Design work on critical infrastructure jobs.

On my current rotation, my responsibilities include assisting the Project team preparing bids and executing deliverables.

Day to day responsibilities include report writing, data analysis, proposal preparation, internal and external liaison.

Assist PM of on-going or new projects when needed. These could include project engineering, data analysis, report development, and administrative tasks

My role is to help the senior engineers with design, project manage and any other work necessary.

Happy but wanting to take the next step to becoming a geotech engineer

I move between a Coastal Engineering and Contaminated Sites role. On any day I could be out in the field collecting data, which can be out on the water or in a terrestrial environment. Alternatively, I'll be in the office analysing the data and writing reports for clients. It's a well rounded role where I am able to work on projects from start to finish.

Assisting project managers and designers with review and delivery of project designs and documentation.

I typically do Stormwater Management Plans or Flood Investigations on a day to day basis, most of my work is technical calculations or modeling.
