Jacinta Costanzo

Jacinta Costanzo studied Bachelor of Arts (Journalism/Communications & Media) at Monash University, and is part of RACV’s new and emerging Digital team.

6.40 AM

My morning begins with my alarm, and a quick scramble to get ready. I have organised lunch and my outfit the previous night, and thankfully eases the panic of missing the train.

7.30 AM

I catch the train and begin my commute into the city. Luckily, some friends of mine also catch the train at the same time, so the early, hour-long journey is not so bad. The lively chat wakes me up in the morning, however, is unfortunate for other commuters to hear.

8.30 AM

I arrive in the city and walk ten minutes to get to the office. This is one of my favourite moments of the day as I observe other workers also begin the bustle of their city workday. Once I arrive at the office and choose a seat, I like to check emails and most importantly set up my screen displays. I also check the status of ongoing tasks, including the publication dates of certain pages.

9.00 AM

I jump on a call with other members of the Digital and Design team to hear about the uplift of some website pages. This meeting gives me the opportunity to observe how multiple team members interact, develop ideas and formulate intended actions to create an effective structure for users. This occurrence involves the UX team showcasing the intended design of the page with stakeholders inputting their thoughts.

10.00 AM

I head downstairs to meet with some graduates for a coffee. This is a great time to check in with others in the grad cohort and hear about their work within their teams. It’s also a great chance to visit a new coffee spot in the city.

10.30 AM

I return to my desk to review my active jobs. I notice some of my created pages have been approved by legal, and therefore I can make life on the website. This process also involves checking all links are functioning on the live site on the published page. At the same time, another peer has asked me to update some FAQs on a pre-existing page. I make these changes and send this page to the legal team for approval.

12.30 PM

Lunchtime! Whilst there are many food choices surrounding the office, I resort to the same sushi place down the street. Most days I seat myself to look out at the city views whilst I eat lunch.

1.30 PM

I receive a brief from the marketing team about formulating a new landing page for a member discount. I read through the brief, beginning to visualise how this information will look on the page. I reach out to my rotation manager, and we jump on a quick call to discuss the brief. We discuss the proposed copy and placement of offers, considering the likely engagement of end-users.

3.00 PM

I join my team’s fortnightly meeting, which involves each team member sharing what they are working on, as well as peers showcasing their major work. Today a peer has demonstrated a newly developed widget that will make it easier for web users to make travel bookings. This is a great way to check-in with peers as well as understand how team members are collaborating.

4.00 PM

I continue working on the new landing page, following discussions about the supplied brief that came through earlier in the day. This page is exciting to build as it outlines a new discount the company’s members will have access to.

5.00 PM

I wrap up my workday and head over to the train station for my commute home. I look forward to my evening which includes some exercise and reality tv.
