Career Prospects at Victoria's Big Build

Generally very good opportunity, but there has to be a place available.

Fairly clear promotional pathway is available, but does hinge on specific positions opening up at the right time.

Each year you set objectives to achieve alongside your manager. If these objectives are achieved you will be promoted accordingly

I feel good about the chances to seek promotions when I am ready for them. I am in no rush to progress quickly though.

There is lots of opportunity to move around within the project, provided that you are motivated to pursue it.

The graduate program here encourages us to rotate so we can ensure we can explore different areas to find out where we'd like to be the most. Will find out more over the coming months on how to "move up the ranks".

Despite being a 2 year program, prospects for promotion may come up within 18 months

There is the possibility for a formal position offer at the end of the graduate program.

At my project it is expected that you will be seconded out to a private company after the grad program, but most people prefer this as they can experience both private and client side of projects. HR organise the secondments for us and they are wide in scope which is great.

No possibility for career progression in our section of the VBB program (depends on where you go). The idea at my project, is that you move to an external final rotation, which works well for the engineers.

My project doesn't keep many grads on but HR has found me an external rotation which will likely lead to permanent employment.

There is a fairly clear path to progressing your career at MTIA in my project team. After the Grad program, if you perform well, it is likely that you will be offered an advisor role. There will likely be opportunities to move to other roles in the public sector, or even the private sector with the experience gained from the program.

The graduate program gives us an opportunity to rotate to external companies and be employed by them

I don't feel as if there is any ceiling to my career progression.
