About Escient

We help organisations transform.

We help organisations deal with today’s ever-changing landscape so they can thrive in its complexity. And we help them make a more positive impact by becoming more human and being purpose-led.

Our values sit at the heart of how we do this. Being selfless, courageous, creative and empathetic is how we deliver better experiences for our clients, which we believe deliver better results.

How we help

We focus on helping organisations through the following key challenges:

Dealing with Change - Helping leaders build strong, adaptable and resilient organisations that are ready for a future that’s undefined.

Becoming more Human - Helping organisations take a more human-centric approach to the way they design their organisations and how to deliver for their people and customers.

Delivering on their Purpose - Helping organisations act more purposefully, enabling them to have a more positive impact on people, society, and the planet.

Navigating Complexity - Helping organisations find clarity in the complexity – to understand and navigate the ever-changing world and deliver on the decisions and strategies that make the most of opportunities.

With a talented team of over 150 consultants across Australia, we have delivered results in all major sectors, including government, energy and resources, financial services, health and aged care, social services and manufacturing.

Social Responsibility

We are a proud B Corporation

Escient is proudly B Corp certified, which signifies our pledge to make a meaningful impact on our employees, clients, the community, and our organisational governance.

We demonstrate this in how we support and value our people, through our partnership with values-aligned clients who are driven towards positive change, community partnerships, and the high standards we hold ourselves to in operating our organisation.

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

Diversity, equity, and inclusion are at the core of who we are. We know that having varied perspectives helps generate better ideas to solve the complex problems of a changing—and increasingly diverse—world.

Commitment to Reconciliation

Through achievement of our inaugural Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) in 2023, we are taking active steps towards a future that embraces First Nations peoples and deepens our understanding and respect for their cultures and contributions to a shared contemporary society.

Our RAP is a courageous but sustainable plan to strengthen our relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, our communities, and our employees.

Recruitment Process

Step 1: Submit your application | End of July

Cover letters mean a lot to us. This is a chance to let your personality shine through. We want to get to know you, more than just where you've worked and what you know. Tell about who you are and what makes you tick.

Include your CV and cover letter in the application. You can choose the written option or let your authentic self shine through with a video cover letter. It's up to you.

Step 2: Let's talk | End of July - Early August

Our team will contact all applicants via email or phone for an initial screening conversation. This is a chance to learn more about your motivations for applying and get to know you a little better.

Step 3: Let's meet | August

You will connect with a People & Culture representative for a culture-fit interview, which is an opportunity to bring your CV and Cover Letter to life. We will also take the opportunity to ask you culture-fit questions and encourage you to ask about life at Escient.

Step 4: Case Study Panel Interview | Early September

For those who are successful, you will be provided with a case study scenario in advance, from which you will formulate a presentation response and deliver it to a panel of Escient consultants.

Step 5: Offer | Mid-September

For those successful candidates, you'll receive a call to proceed with reference checks, followed by verbal and written confirmation of the offer to join Escient.

What Graduates Say About Them
  • The best thing about working at Escient is the culture and people. Right from the recruiting process to Day 1 to 6 months in, people were willing and open with their time, assistance and knowledge (which they have in spades). The culture is also unmatched with a passion to truly live out key values along with creative and fun social events. For both of these reasons I feel fully supported to perform my role and learn as much as I can.
  • A very supportive environment. I have been made to feel like an equal among all my colleagues despite my title as a graduate and have always felt like I have a voice and play an active role in the company
  • The graduate program is a great environment to learn and try new ideas or ways of working. The team that run it are super supportive and encouraging. There are also lots of initiatives going on within the company that new starters can get involved in if they wish (Diversity and Inclusion, RAP etc.) that make you feel connected to those in other regions. The Communities of Practice are also good forums for any issues or challenges you’re facing on client sites and just great for connecting with other people working in the same area as you but on other engagements.
  • The incredible opportunities that are given to graduates so early in their careers. Being able to take ownership of key deliverables (with the support of my colleagues) was a big confidence boost and also helped me learn more about my own skills and interests.
  • The people and mentoring that I got here from specific people was the best. As an introduction to the workplace and when you're still figuring out what is important to you and how you work, it has the foundations to transition you from university to working life very well. You're also very supported in your job, no matter the task.
  • Sometimes things are too easy - feels like I need more of a challenge
  • The worst thing about working at Escient is that there isn’t a large amount of opportunity to work on projects with International clients. As Escient continues to grow I believe they will gradually tap into that market and expand.
  • Given Escient was only started 8 years ago the size of the organization means there is a lot of change occurring at a very quick rate which can be frustrating to deal with at times.
  • Sometimes there are unrealistic expectations around capacity. Being a consulting firm, we are expected to work full-time for clients but also juggle internal initiatives and meetings, which can be difficult. It feels like if you say "no" to the internal meetings and support that it will impact your reputation within the company, so there's periods of high stress and long work days when you're trying to do it all.
  • The company is no longer a small-scale or start-up organization. It has been growing into a mid- size enterprise-based organization, hence, the transformation changes internally would require you to have a bit of patience to understand and embrace these changes.
