Pros & Cons

  • The amount of support from co-workers
  • The great thing about working at TCS is the level of support they provide and the great systems and people they have in place at different departments to help you succeed in your work. I love the support and the great smiles on peoples faces at the office.
  • Company internal website not user friendly
  • I could not think of a worst thing working there but if anything it could be that Covid-19 has restricted us to just work from home.

Culture
8.3
Culture
TCS has a strong emphasis on diversity, inclusion, and the ability to work across borders. To facilitate this, there have been sessions to educate us about other cultures and their ways of working. For the graduate program, we had plenty of opportunities to interact with each other. Outside of work, we graduates have also organised dinners to catch-up with each other. Cannot comment on the structure and hierarchy as I have not been exposed enough.

TCS is one of the most diverse companies I have worked in, they are very welcoming of different cultures and people. I love interacting with people from other cultures and I have made many friends with great people. TCS also provides a knowledge base for every country in the world and they culture and important facts to help associates get to know one another better.

Satisfaction
As a graduate, I initially started off with an intensive one month training program, teaching us essential business and technical skills. I was then on-boarded with my client, where I will spend a rotation of at least 6 months with my allocated team. My client and their company have been very inclusive of me, and there have been sufficient training to ensure I can carry out my daily duties. My day-to-day responsibilities vary, but mostly include carrying out project work, business-as-usual activities, and having meeting with stakeholders.

Managers are great at TCS they can do many things to help support you as well as upskill you for the future. They can provide you with some curriculum to learn new things, They provide you with yearly goals or project goals that you can reach or improve on, and many more. Managers are open and you are free to email them, message them or call them for support.

Office Work Environment
Actual office is standard and seems to be recently furnished. This is not important as most graduates will be spending their time at the client office instead. - Dress code is business casual (but we wore business formal on the first day just to be safe). Not sure if there are casual Fridays at TCS.

Recruitment

Recruitment
The interview process involves a series of questions from the hiring manager. Firstly, you have a interview with the HR manager in charge of filling the role. Subsequently, you then are invited if successful to a technical interview with the projects manager and the HR manager is also present. They ask a series of technical and non-technical questions at the interview and you are able to ask questions to. Afterwards you will hear back if you were successful or not.

Training
Training is one of the greatest things I have experienced yet in a company. TCS has access to many learning platforms as well as experts that have worked at TCS and created great courses to upskill and learn new things. TCS also hosts many certification drives that allows associates to gain industry certifications for free. There are so many more positives of training that really makes TCS stand out.

Work Hours
This is dependent on the client you are assigned with. - For me, I am expected to work 7.6 hours a day, excluding breaks (38 hours a week). - A typical work day for me is 9am - 5:30pm, with a 1 hour break. - Overtime can be expected depending on projects and the workload.
